This blog started as a journal of all the wisdom and knowledge I have gained from raising you. I want to be able to pass it all down to you, but I know I will forget most of it before you are mothers yourselves.
If you are not one of my girls, welcome! I hope you find these things informative. This is a journal made public, so everything is anecdotal. As of this writing, I have three girls ages six, three, and six months. I want to give them the well-educated start that I did not have.
Motherhood is sacred. Motherhood is the highest calling a woman can hold. Motherhood is the work of salvation.
Motherhood can be an extremely rewarding and sanctifying experience if done with humility. Pray for your motherhood to change you. Strive to become the woman you are meant to be.
I will not give too many details in this blog because it is public. My girls can always read my journal for deeper insight into my experience and motivations if they so choose.
I hope you find these posts both informative and encouraging. I pray these words will find those who need it most. I hope it gives you the guidance you need.
With Love From,
P. S. This painting is by Elspeth Young. The first painting I saw by her was during the open house for the Red Cliffs temple. It is a little hidden. It is hanging in a hallway that is behind a door that is usually closed. It is just to the right of the grand staircase on the main floor, and you can peek inside. That painting is called "Blessed Honored Pioneer." You can also see it here, but I didn't include a picture of it because it is now temple art and cannot be reproduced. The moment I saw that painting, I felt like I had been captured in it. Me holding one of my girls. I have never felt any fondness toward the church pioneers before, despite being related to some of them. However, I feel that same feeling looking at this painting, "Shall We Not Go On." We are travelling together, you and I. Struggling on the same journey through the unknown, and it is beautiful! Christ is full of grace and love and he is with us in the details. We shall pull through together!
